Swell Sweets Confections Summer Kiddie Workshop 2015

Summer is a more busy time for the kids no? Summer activities left and right but it's the only time they can do and explore as many activities and sports as they can! And one of those activities I was looking into enrolling Y in a baking or cupcake decorating class and Swell Sweets offered a free session for Y and I was glad they did!

Swell Sweets holds its classes at their studio in Metropole Townhomes, Marikina (boundary QC, just pass Blue Ridge, Katipunan. There's two kinds of classes, Playshop Decorator (AM class) for kids age 5-8 and Junior Decorator (PM class) for kids age 9-15 and each day, each class has different themes! For our Playshop Session, our theme was Jungle Safari Animals!
There's Tita Gel, head baker/chef of Swell Sweets. She can accommodate up to 6 kids per class to ensure proper instruction to each kid.
Each kid has their own set of tools, apron and hat (which you can purchase with the class) and a tray of pre-baked cookies and cupcakes and pre-cut toppers.
And before they start decorating their cookies and cupcakes, Tita Gel explained first what each tool is for.
Y listening intently to Tita Gel.
She follows instructions well talaga. She didn't want help from me (stage mom lang!) or from Tita Gel unless she asked for help na.
First step is putting "glue" to the toppers for it to stick to the cookies and cupcakes.
Then they made the faces...
Can you guess what animals are they? Y decorated these herself with minimal help from me.  After doing the faces, we had a 15 minute break. They have a snack bar which the little boys raided. Haha!
Caught in the act! Haha! I like this snack bar, I want one at home!
Kulit boys who were not part of the workshop but finished all the snacks. Haha!
Then it's time to make the eyes. Tita Gel gave Y a little help. Y has been asking me to buy her a rolling pin for her clay. I remembered after seeing this photo! Hehe!
Then stick the eyes to the animals!
Then Tita Gel taught the kids how to make the eyeballs. Berry and Y perfectly molded their eyeballs! Tita Gel wanted to hire them na! Heehee!
Then R decided he wanted to join the class. Tita Gel was so nice to let him join, I was worried he was going to make a mess and be the makulit one disturbing the whole but he had playmate, Xavi! Heehee!
After 2 hours, this was Y's final products! So cute no?
Proudly showing off her work. So proud of you, Y! She now wants us to bake at home and decorate our own cupcakes. Eeep! This momma needs to learn how to bake first!
Congratulations kids! R wanted to be part of the photo. Haha! He grabbed Y's certificate buti na lang Tita Gel has an extra one which what Y is holding.
Now with Tita Gel naman!
Thank you Tita Gel for having us! It was nice to finally meet you!

Y had a great time, she loved it and can't stop talking about it and telling her papa about it. Her papa wants to buy an oven and a mixer na! Talaga lang ha. Can Y take classes first? Heehee! I'm thinking which class I want to enroll Y next. Swell Sweets will have its workshop from April to May. Check out their schedule below!
And here's how to enroll.

A&D Eats: Baked By Anita

Last week, this lovely package was delivered to my house.
Lovingly boxed. Baked By Anita

I've known about Baked By Anita for quite some time now. I always see them in bazaars and Y was able to try her cupcakes during the Zonta Bazaar. She liked it very much!
But recently, I've been seeing these Bocaditos in my Instagram feed! And I'm so happy when I saw it was Bocaditos inside the boxes!
One box has the ready-to-ea Bocaditos while the other one has the frozen ones!

Because I was excited to eat them, I immediately popped three pieces (the ready-to-eat) into the toaster!
OMG! This was super good! As in!!!! This is the Wild Mushrooms & Gruyere with Truffle Oil.
The Bocaditos has six flavors: Wild Mushrooms & Gruyere w/Truffle Oil, Spicy Italian Sausage & Roasted Red bell pepper, Chicken & Mushroom w/ Marsala Cream, Spinach, Goat Cheese & Pine Nuts, Chili-Lime Tuna with Black Olives, Spanish Chorizo & mozzarella!

Baked By Anita also sells frozen Bocaditos which is perfect for baon to the office or for that biglaan visitors or parties at home. And they pack it with an ice pack and insulated pouch!
I love that they include a small ice pack to keep those Bocaditos frozen while you're in transit. These are perfect for pasalubongs to your relatives in the province!

Drop by Baked by Anita at 5/F SM Megamall Fashion Hall near the ice skating rink.
Or drop by Toby's Estate in Salcedo VIllage to get your Bocaditos fix together with their great coffee!

Raizo Turns 1: Tazzy Cakes

Ok, 4 months later I'm still not yet done with R's party suppliers! Let's do this!

I was already set on having Raizo's cake to be made by Tazzy Cakes. I wrote about my niece's cake which is also made by Tazzy Cakes here. It was so pretty that I'm sure R's cake will also be as fab!
Catz, the owner and mother baker of Tazzy Cakes is super easy to transact with. I gave her my budget and some pegs and our invitation. Not necessarily copy the pegs but to serve as inspiration for the cake.
It was really hard to look for robot cake theme inspiration on the net. I initially wanted robot cake, a standing/sitting robot cake but Catz said the cake won't hold. Baka hindi din abot budget ko, ambisyosang frog lang hihi!
Cute noh?
And so the week before R's party, Catz called to confirm the colors of my theme and if it's possible na surprise na lang daw ang design ng cake. Of course I said YES! You can never go wrong with Tazzy Cakes! Wala pa ata akong naririnig na bad feedback from anyone who had their cakes made by Catz!

So on the day of the party, I was excited to see what Catz did. And here's the cake!!!
May sitting robot pa din!
I loved the cake! Galing mo talaga Catz!

I also had cupcakes made. Forgot how many I ordered. 24 cupcakes I think. But for the budget I've provided, it's super sulit! Her chocolate cake and cupcakes are super yummy! Seriously! My sister asked for four cupcakes, one of each color.
Super yummy promise!

Thank you again Catz for the cake! It was a super easy and smooth transaction! I highly recommend her to every mom! You won't be disappointed!

Spread the Sweetness with Cupcakes by Sonja

About a few weeks ago, we were invited to the opening of Cupcakes By Sonja at the 2nd floor Bridgeway of Glorietta 2. After six years of opening its doors at Serendra, they have now expanded and opened a new store! I remember when Cupcakes by Sonja first opened, I really didn't get the fuss was all about until I saw the store and tasted my first cupcake!

I was super excited to take Y with me and have her a taste of Cupcakes by Sonja. She likes sweets just like her papa!
Posing at the counter
Can you say CUPCAKES???
We were all excited for the cupcake decorating that Cupcakes by Sonja has prepared for the SoMoms and SoKids! We each get an apron and toque for mom and kid!
Color guide for frosting!
Our first activity was well decorate your won cupcakes! And we get to pick what color our frosting will be. I asked Y (do I really need to ask) what color she wanted, of course PINK!
Mixing her own frosting
Of course she had to eat the frosting!
Kids and moms went crazy with the toppers!
Here's her first masterpiece! She's pretty happy about it!
I thought we were finished with 1 cupcake. But noooo, there's more! Three more actually! 2 more cupcakes and 2 cookies!
Helped her putting the icing and she's the one who decorated (more on poured the sprinkles into the cookie!)
More decorating! 2nd and 3rd cupcake had a beach and sea theme! I love creating the sand effect on the 3rd cupcake! Super cool!
Seeing this made me miss the beach! Ahihihi
And last but not the least is our sunflower cupcake. Which I decorated for Y. Cinareer ko mga teh!
Pwede? Hehe
And here are the kids with Tita Sonja!
And now with the SoMoms!
Do you know that you can also have your own decorate your own cupcake party? Just inquire at any of their branches! That will be so much fun!

More stores are set to open within the year at Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Eastwood City, Greenhills, and  TriNoma. Cupcakes by Sonja will also be offering new menu items developed with the same passion and commitment to quality and prepared with only the best ingredients as its other signature items.
