School Of Styling Philippines

Classes at School of Styling Philippines have officially started last January 30 with a Tablescapes & Table Setting workshop! I had a super great time! It's always fun to learning new things and meet new people!

School of Styling Philippines is a passion project of Em Sulit of Game Changer and Indy Ycasiano of She Dreams in Ink.

My friends know I love buying plates (it's an addiction! But I've stopped for a few months now. Haha!) and I love my little collection but the truth is I don't know how to style them if I were to have guests over at home. But now I have a few tips and tricks up in my sleeve! All thanks to Indy and School of Styling! Yay! All of School of Styling's workshop also includes Basic Photography and Business Portfolio Making.

This is Geunice Burgos of Lightkeeper Studios. She taught us the basics of photography, some tips and tricks and what apps to use for post-processing.

I am inspired by Indy's passion and dream that turned into a reality and sharing her creativity to everyone! I learned a lot that day! I didn't know there are different kinds of table setting! 

I know a lot of people who wants to start a small styling business but don't know where or how to start, these workshops by School of Styling would surely help, inspire and jumpstart your business! After listening to Indy's lecture, it was our turn get our feet wet! I was groupmates with Amber, Cy, Korina and another lady (sorry I didn't get your name). Our task was to design our own tablescape and table setting with all the materials and things that were available!

Plates, chargers, cups, glasses, candleholders and more from L'indochine! Ahh this sight made me so giddy!

Mason jars, tea pots, table napkin, table mats for us to play with!

More placemats, napkin holders, books and crates! The possibilities are endless! We were running and panicking which ones to use!

After 20 minutes of arranging, fixing, changing and editing, we came up with this! It's a Alice-In-Wonderland inspired tea time tablescape and table setting.

I loved how everything came together! And I loved that book detail and our table setting!

And while mommy was busy, my kids were busy too! I have to thank Little Luli's Crown Making Booth, her kids, the play area and the food because that kept them busy!

Indoor Greens Workshop By The Green House Project

Earlier last month, Chessy, Kaye and I joined an Indoor Greens (or Dish Garden) Workshop by The Green House Project over at SM City North EDSA's Interior Zone.

I've always wanted to have a home garden but with my busy schedule, a home garden is a bit too ambitious for me and our home and I don't even think I can sustain it. I've "tried" taking care of a few plants and succulents but they all died. I am guessing I don't have a green thumb as well. Hahahaha! But that won't stop me from learning and trying again so when Karen of The Green House Project was looking for bloggers for their indoor plant workshop, I immediately signed up and invited more blogger mommas!

Karen is heaven sent! She guided us step-by-step through the workshop and answered all of the questions we asked and I think I may have found a new hobby. I never knew making a dish garden can be so therapeutic! 

Here's Karen explaining to us what's inside our kit.

First, we filled our dish (around 3-4 inches deep) with stones. The dish has holes underneath those stones to avoid overwatering.

Then we picked our plants of choice. Ang hirap pala pumili ha!

You can actually DIY but you have to be knowledgeable of a plant's water and sunlight requirement before putting them together in a dish garden.

Then put an inch of garden soil on top of the stones before putting the plants inside the dish and fill it again with more garden soil. Karen told us to make it packed! Siksik dapat!

What I love about indoor greens is they are easy to maintain and more sustainable for me. They only need minimal sunlight and watering it once a week is okay. And so after arranging and rearranging the plants, putting more soil and adding finishing touches with decorative stones and pieces, here's my dish garden!

Tadaaah! I was pretty happy with how my dish garden turned out!

And my dish garden won me a prize! Wooot!!! :) My future ata ako sa gardening. Charrrr! Hahaha!

I was able to take home more plants with me so I made more mini dish gardens. I gave the one I made, as a welcome gift, to my achi who just moved in to their new house. And the two are still well and alive. Whew hahaha!

While I wish I can make more dish gardens by myself and give it away to friends for Christmas, I don't have the time so why not just buy from The Greenhouse Project! Heehee! They make the perfect Christmas gift!

Swell Sweets Confections Summer Kiddie Workshop 2015

Summer is a more busy time for the kids no? Summer activities left and right but it's the only time they can do and explore as many activities and sports as they can! And one of those activities I was looking into enrolling Y in a baking or cupcake decorating class and Swell Sweets offered a free session for Y and I was glad they did!

Swell Sweets holds its classes at their studio in Metropole Townhomes, Marikina (boundary QC, just pass Blue Ridge, Katipunan. There's two kinds of classes, Playshop Decorator (AM class) for kids age 5-8 and Junior Decorator (PM class) for kids age 9-15 and each day, each class has different themes! For our Playshop Session, our theme was Jungle Safari Animals!

There's Tita Gel, head baker/chef of Swell Sweets. She can accommodate up to 6 kids per class to ensure proper instruction to each kid.

Each kid has their own set of tools, apron and hat (which you can purchase with the class) and a tray of pre-baked cookies and cupcakes and pre-cut toppers.

And before they start decorating their cookies and cupcakes, Tita Gel explained first what each tool is for.

She follows instructions well talaga. She didn't want help from me (stage mom lang!) or from Tita Gel unless she asked for help na.

First step is putting "glue" to the toppers for it to stick to the cookies and cupcakes.

Then they made the faces...

Can you guess what animals are they? Y decorated these herself with minimal help from me.  After doing the faces, we had a 15 minute break. They have a snack bar which the little boys raided. Haha!

Kulit boys who were not part of the workshop but finished all the snacks. Haha!

Then it's time to make the eyes. Tita Gel gave Y a little help. Y has been asking me to buy her a rolling pin for her clay. I remembered after seeing this photo! Hehe!

Then stick the eyes to the animals!

Then Tita Gel taught the kids how to make the eyeballs. Berry and Y perfectly molded their eyeballs! Tita Gel wanted to hire them na! Heehee!

Then R decided he wanted to join the class. Tita Gel was so nice to let him join, I was worried he was going to make a mess and be the makulit one disturbing the whole but he had playmate, Xavi! Heehee!

After 2 hours, this was Y's final products! So cute no?

Y had a great time, she loved it and can't stop talking about it and telling her papa about it. Her papa wants to buy an oven and a mixer na! Talaga lang ha. Can Y take classes first? Heehee! I'm thinking which class I want to enroll Y next. Swell Sweets will have its workshop from April to May. Check out their schedule below!
