Almost Eczema-Free + Quick Review of Products That Worked For Me!

Almost but not quite, I still have small itchy spots here and there but I have found my "perfect" combination of products and it's what I've been using for the past three weeks and so far so good! I have been struggling with eczema for three years now. I hate it! I hate when the weather is bipolar because that's when eczema attacks and it can be really bad. I can't go to the gym because my pawis can also trigger eczema attacks. I have been going back and forth to my dermatologist and have tried and tested different products but nothing would really work - long term. It's either it would work for a week or so then it would come back again or it would not work at all. The back of my knees have darken because I can't stop scratching! Hindi na ako flawless! Ahihihi!

My current fight-against-eczema arsenal. Will tell you more about these products as you read on.
When we came back from our trip to Baguio, my red patches from my last eczema attack were almost gone then one day after coming back. Boom! Hello attack of eczema nanaman!!! I haven't worn shorts or dresses for a long time and when I do, people kept asking what happened to my arms or my legs. Kawawa naman daw ako! There was even a time when I would always wear long sleeves (kahit mainit!) because I was too conscious. But not anymore! And because I'm so happy I'm almost eczema free (for now and I hope it stays that way!), I want to share you with what worked (and didn't work) for me.
This is the current state of my arms. See those red spots? That's what's left of what used to be like a size of a map of I don't know which country. Hehe

I've used a lot of lotions and heavy creams from different brands but nothing has worked until I used QV Cream. QV Cream ha not the lotion because I've also tried the lotion and it didn't work. A friend recommended QV Cream and I had my mom bought it for me in Hong Kong. Seriously, it works like magic! I can't believe I waited one month before opening and using it!
QV Cream is my lifesaver! I love love this product because it really saved my skin. QV Cream contains squalene, a natural component found in the skin's oil. It's a rich and protective cream that replenishes the skin and repairs dry skin. I've been using this religiously for three weeks, applying it every after bath. It's a heavy cream but it feels very light on the skin. I'm hoarding more QV Cream as we speak!

If you have eczema, you would know how itchy it can get. Lagi akong pinapagalitan ni BOS when I would scratch my itchy arms and legs even when I was asleep but I can't help it! Then a friend gave me Suu Balm to try. Suu Balm helped me escape the urge to scratch. It gave me rapid itch relief, it's smooth, non-sticky, and  steroid-free.
Please note it doesn't treat eczema but it only gives relief. Suu Balm helped me naman but when the going gets tough and eczema attacks, Suu Balm can't handle it anymore.

Another product that gave me instant relief was Zenutrients' Argan Skin Salve-ation. It reduces the redness but I have to apply it constantly but when it get's hot or humid, it get sticky then it would feel itchy again. But I still love this skin salve because it works with insect bites and burns.
Tip: Put the skin salve in the ref so it's cool when you apply it.

While I like using Mustela's Stelatria on my kids, it doesn't really worked on me anymore. Maybe because hindi na ako kid. Hehe! While it works on insect bites and small wounds, it takes a while or baka hindi na nga effective on my eczema, well it used to work but I may have become immune to it.
But Stelatria is still one of my favorite Mustela products!

And last but not the least is the medicine that really healed my eczema. A co-parent of mine gave me this pot of Clobetasol. Her husband also suffered from eczema and this was the medicine that worked for him so I asked her to buy one for me. Clobetasol Propionate is very potent and should not be used for more than two weeks. My eczema cleared up after one week of using Clobetasol and even I couldn't believe on how effective it was!
Please consult your doctor before using any medicine!

I'm so happy that my skin is almost back to normal well sa arms, sa legs hindi pa but nonetheless, I have found what works for me. While I don't use Clobetasol now, I use Stelatria for the red spots and religiously use QV Cream and mild soap. And whenever I feel I want to scratch, I just apply another layer of QV Cream or use the Suu Balm.

Do you also have eczema? Can you share what products you use? I want to try more products! Whitening ng peklat meron kayo, I need! Or mag gluta na din ako? Heehee!

Mustela: Nurturing Skin Care for Moms and Babies

Mustela is one brand I am most loyal to and I know that a lot of moms are fans of the brand too. One of the reasons why I love Mustela is they constantly innovates and integrates the latest scientific breakthroughs to best meet the needs of us, parents. We've been using Mustela for almost three years now and I have my favorites, do you have a favorite Mustela product?
My favorites!
Last week, I attended the press launch of Mustela at La Creperie in Makati. With the latest scientific breakthroughs, Mustela introduced six products with new formula and new textures!
Lexi Schulze, our host for that afternoon.
Watch this video and know what Shen, Tin and Nicole's favorite Mustela product and why they trust Mustela!

Just like the chic and beautiful mommies above, another favorite Mustela product of mine is the Vitamin Barrier Cream. It's the best smelling diaper cream ever! It's very effective and even with just a little amount of it, it really covers a lot of skin! It's ideal for soothing and preventing diaper rash as its barrier effect protects and insulates the fragile skin of infants. It provides relief, reduce development of bacteria that babies often get from their weewee and poopoo.
While my family doesn't go to the beach that much, my kids love playing outdoors! Sun protection is a must and Mustela has crafted the Sun Protection Line specifically formulated to provide extreme care and protection for our wee ones against the harmful UVA and UVB rays.

Mustela's Sun Protection Line are also highly resistant to water, sweat, and rubbing from towels and clothing. I sometimes use it too when I "jog" while I wait for my daughter in school.

Mustela not only cares for babies but also cares for mommies! They've formulated the Stretch Mark Oil, which increases the elasticity and softness of us, mommas! You know when you're pregnant and our skin gets stretched as our belly grows bigger, we want to maintain our flawless skin!
Specially formulated with lupeol, a natural, patented active ingredient that produces fibers that strengthen the skin to help it cope better when stretching.

Mustela now has four product lines -- Mustela 9 Months for pregnant and breastfeeding moms, Mustela Bebe for daily baby care of babies and children with normal skin, Mustela Dermo-Pediatrics for babies and children (and even adults!) with problem skin, and Mustela Sun Care for safe and effective UV rays protection.
Mustela makes the perfect gift for pregnant and new mommas! I love receiving Mustela as presents! Mustela sells gift packs that are perfect for gift-giving! Visit the nearest Mustela kiosk and get the latest products from Mustela!
Congrats Sharleem and Tammy with fab mommas Tin, Shen and Nicole!

The Rebirth of Mustela's Bebe Line

The first time I used Mustela was for R's diaper rash. He had a severe diaper rash and no over the counter diaper cream made it go away until I tried Mustela's Stelactiv. It made the rash go away in less than a week! Mustela became my best friend ever since! Then after giving to R, my eczema became worst. I went to their kiosk in Robinson's Place in Manila and bought the Stelatopia line. And after using it for two weeks, my skin was better. Flare ups subsided and my skin was not so dry anymore!

So when Tammy invited the SoMoms to the "rebirth" of the Mustela Bebe Line, I couldn't say no.
Mustela's Line Up
One more thing I love about Mustela is they make your baby smell so good! I love smelling my kids when they used anything Mustela!
Van Santos, #thevainmama was our host for that afternoon.
And here's Sharleen of Mustela telling us all about the new formulation of the Mustela Bebe Line

Mustela , the expert on baby’s skin for 63 years, has launched an ambitious fundamental research program to advance knowledge about infants’ skin, from birth on. The Mustela researchers at Expanscience Laboratories have now discovered that a newborn’s skin contains a rich cellular resource: a reserve of stem cells at its highest potential at birth, yet remains extremely vulnerable during the first few years of life, while the cutaneous barrier is being built.
Avocado Perseose® is the new active ingredient of Mustela Bebe and Mustela Sun Protection products. To make baby’s skin less vulnerable while protecting this unsuspected wealth of stem cells, the Mustela scientific team at Expanscience Laboratories found that this active ingredient is capable of both supporting the development of the barrier function and, even more importantly, protecting the reserve of cells against day-to-day stresses. Safely preserved, this cellular resource can continue to play its role of restoring and maintaining the overall balance in the skin throughout life.

Avocado Perseose® acts both on the barrier function: it stimulates the production of the barrier’s key elements to promote its development and function. It also acts on the reserve of cells: a true ally for infants’ skin, Avocado Perseose® acts as a shield against external stresses, directly protecting the original cells. This protects the skin’s cellular reserve.

Mustela is a brand that is committed brand. Because caring for babies’ skin also means preserving their surroundings, Mustela goes far beyond protecting their skin and also aims to protect their environment. Since 2004, Expanscience Laboratories has incorporated sustainable development into its corporate policy. The Expanscience approach to corporate citizenship is at work at every level of the company, particularly in the environmentally friendly process used to design Mustela products (from supply and production to distribution and disposal).
Mustela has 4 product range: Mustela Bebe, Musta Dermo-Pediatrics, Mustela 9 Months and Mustela Sun Protect!

And because the SoMoms are best in listening and best in participation. Jen and Eliza won prizes from the Q&A contest!

Thank you, Mustela for having us the SoMoms and giving us a bag full of goodies!

A&D Reviews: Mustela Stelactiv Diaper Rash Cream

R has a very stubborn diaper rash. It comes, we treat, it goes but it was never fully healed. We change his nappies (both cloth and disposables) frequently but it still won't go away. It doesn't help that R likes to sleep on his tummy, his pee stays on his skin more and his rashes became so red, nakakaawa na. :(
So last Saturday after having lunch at Toast Box in Robinson's Place Manila, we stopped by the Mustela booth. I originally was going to buy the barrier cream but the Mustela lady (who was very nice and helpful) told me if the diaper rash is as grabe as ours, we should buy the Mustela Stelactiv instead then use the Mustela Vitamin Barrier Cream when his rash is fully healed.
From Mustela Philippines website:
Mustela Stelactiv is specially developed for moderate to severe diaper rash.

  • Creates a protective barrier on the skin
  • Neutralizes the irritant enzymes responsible for diaper rash due to the exclusive combination of 3 anti-enzymes
  • Purifies your baby's skin to limit bacteria proliferation
  • Rapidly and lastingly soothes the skin
  • High tolerance and hypoallergenic
  • Fragance-free formula that is free from artificial colorings and parebens
We are on our third day using it and it works like magic! As in! The redness faded after two applications. Hoping the rash would be fully healed this week! There's nothing like a smooth baby bum! Hehe!
They use brown paper bags, very eco-friendly!
What I liked about the Mustela lady was she knows her products well. Now, that's great customer service! She was also nice enough to give me some freebies to try like the barrier cream. Yay! And they're on sale til the 25th!
Mustela lady, didn't get her name :(
Here's what I saw on their FB Page:
1. Choose among our Gift Baskets and 5 new Christmas packages, with discount as much as 45% off!
2. Enjoy 10% off on individual products for cash purchases; 5% for card purchases.
3. Free Agua de Colognia 200ml cologne worth 750 pesos for every net purchases of 5,000 pesos.

Will go back this week to get that barrier cream!

I'm now a Mustela convert!
