It's an Ogalala World After All!

I'm a Crayola Kid! Are you? One of many things I love doing as a kid was spending my free time coloring and it wouldn't be complete without using my sets of Crayola. Now, Y's also a Crayola Kid and loves doing the same thing! Crayola has been around for so long. They have evolved and multiplied into a whole array of I-must-have-them-all Crayola products! What used to be a part of my childhood is now also a part of my kids' childhood!

A week before school started, I took Y with me to the Ogalala Flagship Store in Shangrila Plaza Mall to their first ever Ogalala Child Development Workshop. This wasn't our first time to visit the store, I took her there last April to she can experice the "Pick-Your-Own Crayola"!

And this time I got to check out the store and take pictures! I have never seen so much Crayola in one place, even Y was out of words when she saw the wall of Crayolas.

All the moms and kids got excited when they saw this wall. I couldn't decide what to get for the kids that I didn't buy anything haha! And I have stocks of Crayola at home, gifts from their aunts and uncles from their birthdays and Christmas!

We have this at home and it's super sulit!

Teacher Maia asked us these questions. With Yukie in school for a year, I've taught her how I study/learn when I was a kid and these questions made me really think. Is she really learning from me?

What kind of learner is your child?

Auditory learners learn by hearing and listening. Does your kid understand or follow spoken instructions better than written ones?

Visual learners learn by reading or seeing pictures. They remember and understand things by sight. I think Y is a visual learner but also a tactile learner.

 Tactile learners learn by doing and touching. They are the "hands-on" learner. Y is also a tactile learner, she learns and remembers things from different places we have took her.

When you or your child identifies his/her learning style, then we can begin to develop it. Understanding your child's learning style is one of the many ways to maximize his/her potential and overcome learning differences. Ogalala System in Play now comes into the picture. Y was excited to do this activity! She really loves doodling and coloring. I'm so happy she has taken after her papa.

Seryosong seryoso no? She really takes art seriously. She couldn't stop doodling even when they said that the time is up. Heehee! Must get that Crayola Window Crayons for her!

Robert Irwin's Wild But True Adventure on Discovery Kids

There's a new show on the block that kids who love science, technology, nature and what nots must watch! On Discovery Kids’ brand new series Wild But True, hosts Robert Irwin and Isabel Yamazaki show how biomimicry – the imitation and application of nature’s systems, models, designs, or elements – has paved the way for technology and inspired many modern-day inventions. Wild But True premieres every Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., starting 2 December. Encores every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Two weeks ago, I was able to take Y with me to the Show and Tell with Robert Irwin at The Exploreum Laboratory at SM Mall of Asia. I was excited about going to this event as I was a bit of a fan of Steve Irwin and Y is still very new to anything science.

The Irwin Family. Bindi is all grown up na! And Robert is a very intelligent boy! You really can feel his passion for science and nature proving the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

The 10-year old Robert Irwin is starring in his first solo TV series with Isabel Yamazuki (in her television debut), the resident science geek reveal how science has made mankind a true student of Mother Nature. On each episode, they explore nature’s amazing solutions for problems in the wild and reveal how we humans use these blueprints to make our world greener, safer, more efficient, and more fun for future generations to come! Artificial intelligence in the form of their digital friend Giles helps them along the way – Giles provides clues that will lead them to the answers behind the most puzzling questions, and also hooks them up with scientists, researchers, and developers from across the world who tell us more about the each item or technology.

Robert demonstrated a few experiments for us during the show and tell which was so awesome! I wanted Y to volunteer but she was shy. :)

And can I just add this here. I posted this on my IG and I want to put it here again. I was really moved and touched (at naiyak talaga ako) at what the mom said about her kids. The Irwin family lives in Australia Zoo, they do distance learning program.

What her kids won't tell us about it this: They're both straight A students and you can really here how the mom is so proud about her children's achievements. Robert is 10 and is 2 years ahead of his class and is in Grade 7 while Bindi is taking college courses! How amazing! They are truly blessed to have each other.

A New Discovery Kids Show: Junior Bake Off!

Last week, Y and me were invited to the launch of a new show on Discovery Kids Channel which is the Junior Bake Off! Pint-sized bakers aged nine to 12 from across Britain are taking over the kitchen to come up with the most unique and incredible bakes!

Junior Bake Off will start showing on June 3 (today!) at 5PM!

The series feature 32 of the country's best bakers who'll put their cake making, biscuit making, pastry and bread making skills into the ultimate test. Y was able to rest her own decorating skills during the launch!

I hope someday Y will become a Junior Baker herself! But for now, we'll watch Junior Bake Off on Discovery Kids! The series follows the young bakers' journey where in each episode the kids face two challenges, a technical test and an invention bake where they can let their imaginations run wild!

Each challenge has a theme where each baker must deliver their own creations!

Only four young bakers will make it through the grand finals where they'll be baking for some ery special celebrities! I wonder who they are... Well you have to watch the show!
